As a high school football player from Galena High School, Justin Gates recorded 88 tackles plus 10.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles. In 2006, Justin Gates helped to lead the team to a 2nd place state title. Both Scout.com and Rivals.com listed him as an all-state selection.
