Keith Browner was born on April 7, 1988. His father was an NFL player for two different teams after competing at USC on the collegiate level. Like many of his Cal Bear teammates, he grew up in the big city of Los Angeles, California. Browner attended Dorsey High School.

On the Dorsey High School football team, Browner was a Prep-Star All-American selection and had 12 quarterback sacks as a senior. Not only was Keith Browner a strong athlete, but he also earned a spot on the National Honor Society and Dean's List.

Keith Browner redshirted in 2006 and played in one game in 2007. By 2008 he was playing in a few more games but failed to record any stats.
